This is a writing journal for cass_rising. Its mostly for my own purposes, a place to store works in progress and such, but you're welcome to watch it. Fair warning: the vast majority of what you'll find here will be highly academic. I don't write a whole lot of fiction. But everything will be behind a cut, so it won't destroy your friends page.
Its friends-only for two main reasons:
1) Copyright issues. Most of what will be posted will be intended for future publication. According to the Inglefinger Rule (dumbest. name. ever.), academic or scientific work that has been previously published can not be considered for submission in a peer-reviewed journal. Publically searchable internet sites officially count as publication under this rule, depending on who you ask. While there's no one out there actually checking, I'd really rather not deal with that. And I admit, there is a tiny nasty part of me that's an academic cutthroat. I don't mind sharing my work with my friends and colleages, but I really don't like the idea that any random searcher can find and appropriate my ideas without proper citation.
2) Plaugerism issues. Again, since most of my work is academic in nature, I don't want this journal to be an available essay farm for cheating undergrads. There's enough of those floating around already.
So yea, if you're interested you can comment to be added. Constructive critique (including proofreading) is always welcomed.
